Wedding Preps...

Recently there are quite a few bloggers that I've been following all have been engaged and gettting ready their wedding.

I was inspired by nadnut on her wedding preparation post. So there's my wedding preparation.

  • Venue: I've always dream of getting married in a outdoor garden wedding. I know it's difficult when the weather in SG is so humid. When we went for site visit of all the hotels that we shortlist. We fall in love with Amara Sanctuary Resort. It has semi outdoor area, which is just nice for us! So we booked their Solemnization + buffet dinner package!
  • Guestlist: 80% done. Mainly consist of our families and close friend + colleagues.

  • Save the dates: Sent out 3.5 mths in advance to our wedding. As our wedding date is a public holiday thus we want to inform our friends early so that they will be around to attend our wedding. I sent out our Save the Dates card before we took our engagement shots. So I took a free template from Wedding Chicks.
This is my favorite!
  • Engagement Shoot: All thanks to Google, I managed to find a photographer who does her photos in vintage style. And the photos turns out to be soooo beautiful that we had a hard time choose which photo to be printed out on canvas. Oh,Dear! photography
Coral, White, Green are my theme colours!

  • Colour theme: Since it's a garden wedding, i decided to go with bright colours that will bring out vintage, rustic and timeless feel.
Tissue Pom Pom
  • Wedding decorations: I've yet to meet up with the florist that is included in the package. I've also purchase tissues pom poms (20 pcs) from ShopMerryLove. Which will be arriving around mid-oct. Beside florist, I've also decided to put up poloroid twine hanging on the tree. Guest will take their photos individually or tgt with us the newlywed and hang on the twine!
  • Wedding favours: Have yet to choose but its included in the Solemnization package.
  • Wedding Invites: It's going to be design by me, nothing special as I'm not very pro in photoshop.
  • JP: Since Mr Lee is christian and I'm not, thus we are not having a church wedding. My compromise to him is to have a pastor as our JP!
  • Wedding guestbook: I bought my fingerprint wedding tree guestbook from esty. Esty is such a evil place!!! Hahaha.. I'm so tempted to purchase the personalized hanger! Resisting the temptation!
  • Wedding bands: We have yet to purchase our wedding bands yet but we are most likely going to Meyson Jewellery to purchase one as their wedding bands are of the most reasonable priced.
I love this gown for my outdoor shoot!

  • Outfit: Few months back, I've sign up Sattine Bridal Couture as my bridal shop that will provide me with my AD gowns. Rented my outdoor gown from them and I've yet to choose my AD gowns but will do so soon!
  • AD photographer: Since the day that I started photography as an interest, I've been eyeing on One Eye Click. I love love love love love their works! And I'm pretty lucky to be able to sign up their package at a reasonable priced! No videography as i doubt will have the screen and projector to screen but I will have a DSLR on full HD to record down those precious moments. So perhaps one of my friends or my brother will do that job.
  • Honeymoon: We have yet to decide. Gold Coast, Japan are on our list. But that will be much after the wedding. So I was thinking of having mini-moon straight after the wedding. Either Phuket or Bali.

Make-up: Primer vs Ampoule

When I did my pre wedding photo shoot, I was aware that my bridal shop charged $25 for eyelash / facial ampoule.

I thought it's way too expensive, so i bought my own. The false eyelash that I bought are slightly drama than the normal day to day type that I wear. And ampoules, i bought from Gmarket @ $10. It's pretty cheap for 10 vials of Collagen ampoule which i read that it's good for makeup. But my MUA rejected what i bought. Saying my eyelash is too drama, more suitable for AD - night makeup and the ampoule i buy is not for makeup usage. More for beauty usage.

So i paid extra S$80... i don't know what's the breakdown but I just paid cos I was running abit late for my photoshoot.

Soon I'll have my trial makeup for AD. So before I do my trial makeup, I intend to purchase  all sort of different types of lashes & I don't want to use ampoules, instead I would purchase this and ask the MUA to use this instead. Smashbox primer! As per recommended by a local MUA! And what she says in her blog is soo true!

Below is an extract from her blog:

 # 1: Do ampoules work?
 - Yes, if you get one of a good quality, it works just as well as a high quality serum. However, ampoules work even better when coupled with a facial, when the skin is prepped to receive nutrients, and even better with a high-frequency machine where it encourages the product to be absorbed into the skin. To work is one, but you need the right time to have it work.

 # 2: Do ampoules really make my makeup last longer?
 - No. Honestly, if you expect a beautiful, radiant complexion with your makeup lasting the entire day on your face just because of a "miracle" ampoule, sorry girlfriend, it's not gonna happen. Simply slapping on the product and then the makeup will just be the same as applying your own serum and then makeup.

# 4: Then why do so many bridal makeup artists sell ampoules?
 - It makes them extra cash. Simple as that.
Just like all these hidden charges that some bridal shops charge you after you thought you got a good deal signing up for a $1888 all-in-one package, you end up having to top up for every single detail after. I know of a couple who topped up something like $90 for 3 ampoules, for both groom and bride. $90?! That's daylight robbery for ampoules. Ampoules are available at $5 or less each.

Question 5: What shall I do then? They are pushy and say my skin is "very bad and in dire need" of some ampoules?
 - Argh! I hate it when people in the beauty industry try to push products by criticising their clients. It just gives us such a bad rep.
Firstly, in the months leading up to your big day, you should start taking good care of your skin.
Monthly facials are a good way to relax and deep cleanse your skin.
Next, make sure you exfoliate! If you have a thick layer of old or peeling skin, not even a boxful of ampoules is going to help, and any makeup applied will always bring more attention to flakey skin. I use Dermalogica's Daily Microfoliant which is gentle but effective.
Battle extremes with the right skincare. Too dry and everything just looks powdery and doesn't apply smoothly. Too oily and makeup slides off. Using the right skincare regiment will ensure your skin is well prepped.

Pls read more from her blog!

So I decided to purchase Smashbox items from their website! They offer travel size! =)
Going to Sephora to try out the colours first! (^_^v)

Altered Art {Photo Tray}

I remember quite a while (maybe 1 year back) I purchase the 7 gypsies photo tray. At that time, I wanted to altered it for my USA trip back in 2010 but then I decided not to and kept it till now waiting for the right moment.

So this morning, I woke up... looking at my scrapbook shelf corner where photo tray is kept. I decided to altered it with our pre wed photos and placed it at our reception table during our Actual Day.

Usually I spend almost 1 hour with my normal layout scrapbooking but with this altered art. I took 3.5 hours and I think its worth it.

Using mostly Amy Tangerine's collection from American Craft for some of the embellishment and pattern papers.

Since it's pertaining to wedding, i decided to go with the simple look. With the nature colours as my theme, since mine will be a Garden wedding! =)

There are many more DIY that I'm planing to do for my wedding! I hope with 3 mths tight time line, I have enough time to do!

Plans & Planning...

To me or maybe to all girls when it comes to WEDDING, we all have our visions and dreams. From proposal, pre wed to actual day itself. All details to perfections.

But for me, as a little girl I never much thought about Wedding. But when I'm in my mid twenties, in a serious relationship (or i thought so) with my previous bf who casually mention about getting married. I started to do my research.

Of course not the hardcore type lah. Just casually search for the right proposal rings, know more about diamonds... etc etc... But a twist of fate, things don't work out for us. Thus I didn't touch anything pertaining to wedding until I meet my Mr Lee.. all things changed! Yeah!! (^_^v)

For me, I always wanted a Garden wedding. A simple, rustic, classic wedding... a small gathering with my close families and friends. So I'm over the moon when I saw Amara Sanctuary Sentosa! It's my perfect venue! Lush greenly, air-con glass pavilion; know how humid Singapore is, this is a plus point!!

Proposal ring -> my ideal ring is of cos from Tiffany & Co but I know if my bf is filthy rich than I will make him get me one but nope, Mr Lee is hard working n I know if I want, he will get it for me which I have no intention too.

Instead I settle for the ideal cutting, colour and caret for my proposal. And my ideal caret is 0.6!! 1 carat might be too big for me. So I settle between 0.6 - 0.8. And the best thing, Mr Lee said that he is going to upgrade my ring for me!! Yeah!!

Venue -> Sentosa might be too far away for some but to me, it's still within Singapore or maybe near by. Friends and families I invite, if they have the heart they will make their way to your wedding no matter how far.

I plan to do lots of DIY for my wedding. Lots of interaction with guests, since it a small wedding.

Poloriod camera a must for me. To instant capture picture of us the newly-weds & guests.

An interesting but no so common, fingerprinting wedding guest book. I got mine from Esty, a seller that do digital proof and all i need is to pay for the design and print it out myself.

Tissue pom pom laying around to decorate the venue. With coral pink, white and green as my colour theme

Pin wheels - DIY pin wheels to place at the reception tables.

Pre wed photos - As I didn't sign up photography package with the bridal shop, did my photoshoot with another photographer so I need to DIY my own photo album.

Currently we still have many things that are not done yet.. Like guest list, invites, wedding rings, music selection, JP not selected; no idea who to get also, bridesmaid dress, groomsmen ties, crystal bouquet not done yet! Ahhhhhhhhhhh........... Is this what they call Bridezella??

Haiz, Guess I need a check list...

And I managed to scrap!! Hahah... amazed that with so many things to do, I managed to find inspiration and time to enjoy my "ME" time to do this layout!

I have to wait for 2 weeks in order to received my soft copies of pre wed photos from Oh! Dear photography.

Soo anxious to see how it is!!

We are also going thru the details from our hotel venue too!! Slowly things are falling into place and I kinda of enjoy this process!

Hahah!

It's our pre-wedding shoot with Oh,Dear

Finally we had our engagement photo shoot with Melody from Oh,Dear! photography on 1st Sept 2012.

From our experience, it's a fun and tiring process! But I believe that it's all worth it!! Was praying very hard that the weather will be good to us! And luckily it is! Bright and sunny!

So before our photo shoot, we had our gown and suits altered and fixed. And I did alot of homework on  hairstyles and my makeup artist managed to braid my hair for me but I didn't get a snap of it! Haiz..

So I choose 2 locations for our shoot!
1. Armenian Apostolic Church @ Hill Street
2. Garden By the Bay

So we got ready around 1pm to get to our Sattine (bridal shop) for my makeup and hairstyle.
I prepared my own ampules and eyelash but was not used cos they say that it's not suitable. Hmmm...

Anyway, Melody posted some sneak peeks for us to view! I can say it's soooo pretty and I can't wait for the rest of the photos. Which I will received in soft copy in 2 weeks times! (^_^V)

My childhood friend who helped me on my shoot

My look for that day

Hair let down for the 2nd change of clothing!

Our props!

Secretly taken!

These are the sneak peeks from Melody!! Just these 3 pictures already took my breath away!!

We brave thru the heat and the crowd with tons of ppl staring at us... still we had fun!
