Planning a wedding - The A-Z

Read this from one of the issue in style wedding magazine and thought that I could share it here for all..

Where it all beings

  • Decide when you want to solemnise your marriage. Book a date with the Registry of Marriages.
  • Find your solemnisation witnesses. They must be above 21 years old.
  • File the notice of marriage with ROM.
  • You can personalise your own vows for your ROM ceremony. Confirm guest list for the ceremony.
  • Attend a marriage preparation course to prepare yourselves for your journey together.
First things first

  • Pick a special or auspicious date that will also give you enough lead time to plan your wedding.
  • Decide on the kind of wedding you want: Traditional, casual or formal.
  • Choose a theme.
  • Confirm and priorities your budget. Discuss with your families and partner who pays for what.
  • Check for available venues. Your choice of location will influence your theme and the number of guests you invite.
The gown of your dreams

  • Start shopping six months before.
  • Check recommendations of good bridal shops
  • Try on various styles and flip through magazines for design ideas. Show your preferences to the designer.
  • Wear a nude strapless bar and bring along shoes for your fitting for accurate alterations.
  • Whether you want to rent or purchase the gown, get the best deals that suits your budget.
Other essentials

  • Bouquets - Be inspired by colours, details and seasonal trends. The flowers should match your wedding decor theme.
  • Invitations - Send out invitations three weeks before the event. Invitations must include names of the host/hostess, place, time, date, dress code and RSVP information. Have spare cards for last min invitations.
  • Wedding favours - Source ideas and stay within your budget. Remember, favours can also double up as table decorations.
  • Food galore - Ask for recommendations. Start by sampling menus and remember to offer options for guests with certain preferences, for example, vegetarian or halal dishes For those on tight budget, opt for a light brunch buffet or afternoon tea. grade each menu in order of preference.
  • Entertainment - Depending on the theme and guests, choose from bridal games, live bands, fireworks displays or rope in friends to perform for you.
  • Wild about decorations - Add special touches to your decor to reflect your personal style. Experiment with flowers and decorations on the chair, table-settings, lamps and centre pieces.
  • Toasting - Start with your dad or relatives, then the groom and end off with the best man's speech.

Will continue the rest of the tips in Part 2....
Hopefully this information that I'm sharing from styles magazine are useful to any brides or brides to be!!!
