The Arrival of my Little Bundle of Joy...

I've been so overwhelm by motherhood that I didn't even have the time to blog about my arrival of my little cutie... Danielle Lee..

As mention in my previous blogpost... at week 35, I experience pre-term labour. My gynae decided to stop my contractions and given me jabs to mature baby's lung.

Things were good and I pass week 35 & 36 without much "drama" and enjoyed my CNY feasting.

4th Feb 2014 - Visit Dr Tseng

Visited Dr Tseng during my week 37 appointment and prior to that, the night before, I experience some contractions but i decided not to call him since the next day, I will be seeing him.. As usual, strap on the CTG monior on me... and he check my dilation.

Dr Tseng announced that I'm already to deliver... the NEXT DAY (5 Feb 2014)!!!! MY EDD is 23 Feb.. Wasn't really ready to deliver my baby that soon... but since God has decided that it's time for her to arrive, we will just take it as it is.

Because it's such a sudden announcement, (I have a gut feeling that I might deliver early but I always thought that it will be around Valentine's Day week) So I didn't even have the time to remove my gelish manicure, do my b-wax and remove my eyelashes.

And the worst thing that is, it's only the 5th day of CNY. Not many shops are fully open yet, Browhas & Strip were fully booked, no way to slot me in for my eyelash removal and B-wax. So I called all random beauty house and salon that does waxing.

Luckily this kind lady advised me, not to do B-wax as I am going to deliver soon. In case of allergy reaction.. so I shaved. It's a tough job to shave ur vajayjay with a huge belly but I did my best.
The day went pass and no contractions, I did all my prep work for the next day..
The night came, hubby return home from work. We both are very anxious cause we are going to admit to Gleneagles the next morning @ 7am.

5th Feb 2014 - Getting Ready for Baby Danielle

Went I'm about to hit the sack, I have the urge to pee.... while peeing, I heard a loud "POP". It's like my baby did a super big stretch inside.... and my water bag broke... I'm leaking water everywhere.

Told my hubby that my water bag break, contact Dr Tseng and informed him and we made our way to hospital. At that time it's only 1.30am and I should have listen to Dr Tseng when he asked me to shower and slowly make my way to GlenE...

Imagine my dishavle look when I was in labour and the aftermath of labour... I look horrible.

Off I went to the labour ward
The nurses at GlenE is already very nice.. they tried to make me as comfortable as possible.. I remember a nurse whom we called her Auntie Evelyn... she help me with my pain when I had my epidural injections and she comment tat my hubby looks like her son.. Hehehehe

After the epidural, both hub and I managed to catch some sleep as I won't be able to experience the contractions pains.

But I felt the common side effects of epidural, shivering and pins and needles on my legs.

Poor hubby.... didn't have much rest.  Imagine he was still sleeping when the staff nurse came in to check on me and said that I'm 9cm dilated and I can start to push my baby out.

When he heard that I can start to pushing, he quickly freshen up and help me with my labour...

It's isn't very tough but it's damn exhausting..

Dr Tseng came in around to help me with my labour and shortly after... my pretty little baby is born.

Many ppl say that she looks like me when she is born...

It's my week 2 as a mother.. it's tough and its a new experience for me and my hubby. Many things for us to learn especially Danielle's feeding and sleeping time.

My Preterm Labour Scare @ Week 35

Let me blog about this pre term labour scare that I recently experience before my goldfish memory erase it off my mind....

It on happened on 21 Jan 2014, early in the morning between 4.30am - 5am, I woke up not because I need to pee but i realised that I'm having slight cramps.. So I thought maybe it's just a little cramp and it will go away. When to pee, cause I dun wan to get up again.

'
Google about the signs of pre term labour

Fall back into sleep, but my cramp persists... it was till much later on.. the cramps starts to get really bad. Like those kind you will get when you're having your period on those heavy flow days + I have this super backaches that my bones will just collapse...

I can't fall back into sleep and I start to time the interval. And looking at the timing, it seems quite consistent. So I woke hubby up... and inform him. I quickly showered. Text my boss and colleague that I'm most likely taking half day. Called Dr Tseng and he wants to see me..

We were afraid that I might give birth on that day.. so we packed our hospital bag in the record time.

Off we went to see Dr Tseng... did a series of test and scans. We are thankful that Baby Danielle's heartbeat is beating strong and most of all.. the contractions signs seems to slow down when we are at the clinic. But Dr Tseng still wants to be cautious, so given me 2 jabs.
1 to stop the contractions. Another one to mature baby's lungs. The latter jab is the most painful of all.. make my legs super sore!

Guess what he is hoping to do is to delay the birth at week 35 cause 20% of the babies born at this week will have breathing problems. Thought a good 80% are babies are healthy, still he didn't want to risk it. And having baby staying in NICU is very costly.

Coupled with the injections, I did to take these medicines. Lets hope that Baby Danielle be a good girl and stay in my tummy till Mummy pass gestation week 37!

So I'll be at home this whole week to rest... and make sure Baby Danielle is healthy and well..

P.s while tying this post.. she is kicking me non-stop.. Such a playful girl.. ^_^v

Oh!! CNY is coming in 8 days! This year, I can snack on all the CNY goodies without any guilt.

Have a great week ahead!

Pregnancy Week 35

Wohoo!! It's my pregnancy week 35!
Image from Huggies.com.au
Pregnancy Week 35
I've another 5 more weeks to full term (40 weeks) or just another 2 more weeks to 37 weeks.

My gynae appointment with Dr Arthur Tseng has changed from fortnightly to a weekly visit till I deliver.
Seems like this pregnancy happens just too fast and too soon. Haven't really fully enjoy all my pregnancy privileges and I'm soon to deliver... Hehehehe..

All is well with Baby Danielle and we are happy to know that she is in the right position to be deliver. All we need her to do is to just turn her head slightly and she is in "engaged" position.

Dr Tseng did mention to me that petite mummies tend to give birth at least 2 weeks earlier than the EDD. I was hoping to have her during Valentine's Day (as its the same day that hubby and I are officially an item). And I am at the same time anxious and excited for Danielle's arrival. Keeping my fingers cross... Let see when she decides to arrive...

Me and my ugly feet...
Don't have much to blog about my visit with Dr Tseng cause so far so good.. except my water retention feet is super ugly now. My mil mention that I'm pretty lucky to start having water retention when I'm at my last lap of pregnancy.. There are ladies who started having water retention as early as 5th mth onwards.

So here is a little brief update.
  • Danielle's weigh is 2.5kg
  • Mummy's weight is 66.8kg {getting too fat - need to do more prenatal yoga}
  • Is in head down position, lying on my left side with her face facing my right.
  • Dr Tseng mention that my amniotic fluid is in good level! {I practically drown myself with tons of water}
  • Not much cravings recently. I practically eat everything.
  • Most uncomfortable at night, due to growing belly, I can't sleep well and I get up every 3 - 4 hours to pee
  • Dr Tseng advise me to do more squats and walking up the stairs... {this is a super tough thing to do when you're heavily pregnant. But it has it's benefit so I'm going to be a hard working mummy}
  • Danielle's movement - not so much of punches or kicks cause there isn't much space for her to do so.. I can only feel her jabs as her stretch myself.
  • As usually, Danielle is super active at night when it's mummy's bedtime.

More updates on my Pregnancy Week 36 as I know it's time for me to do another scan with Dr Tseng..

Did I also mention that I'm on "Maternity leave" mode whenever I'm at work... Hehehhee

Have a great week ahead!

Which gynae am I with??

I realised that I didn't blogged about my experience of finding out my pregnancy and its journey thus far..

  1. Finding a gynae the moment you realised you're expecting!

Well, the moment we know that I'm pregnant.. I started to text a few of my girlfriends for recommendation of gynaes.

They recommended a female & male gynae. Female gynae is practising at Thomson Medical and male gynae is practising at Gleneagles.

Made a call to the clinic at Thomson Medical, however she is fully booked and I have to wait for almost a week before I can see her. Can you imagine the wait??

So I made a call to Gleneagles and made an appointment with male gynae. Luckily he has a slot for me at the end of week when I made the appointment.

Hence I'm with Dr Arthur Tseng (Dr Arthur Tseng Womens Health Services Clinic)

So far my experience with him is quite pleasent. He always asking me if I have any further questions about my pregnancy and stuffs. Previously he was practising at KKH and he is quite popular at KK. Many mummies and mummies to be commented in forum that he is kind a nice doctor!

I don't have anyone to compare on his charges but i think being at Gleneagles perhaps the charges are slightly higher.

My first consultation with him cost us a few hundred bucks ($150 + $60 scan) = $210. Not including medicines.

Our subsequence visit consultation will cost $90 and scan is priced at $60. Until I reach 16 weeks, I'm offered a package deal of $1199 which consists of 11 consultations and 10 scans.

I can't think of any bad points with Dr Arthur, except that he kinda of run abit longer time with his patients and even if I'm early / on time for my appointment. I always have to wait for abit.

Some of mtbs commented that he always sells medicines.... so far.. I'm quite okay. All the medicines are what I'm supposed to eat... So I guess it depends on individual.

Hehe.. we finally went for our FA scan at week 20 and we know baby's gender~~

Stay tune for my next update!!
